Abstract: Tibet pig is a special Chinese indigenous pig breed native to high-altitude areas of Tibet. In the present study, the polymorphism of exon2 of obesity gene was measured with the method of PCR-Hinf I-RFLP in Tibet pig. The results showed that there were three genotypes, TT, CT and CC, in Tibet pig population, and the predominant genotypes was CC (50%). The frequencies of allele T and allele C were 28.12% and 71.88% respectively. The distribution of genotype in Tibet pig population was between lean-type pigs and fat-type pigs, which indicated that according to this locus Tibet pig doesn’t belong to lean-type breeds, and its high lean percentage may relate to nutrition and environment.
