Estimation of Genetic Parameters of Reproductive Traits of Tibet Pig

Abstract

Abstract: Tibet pig is a special Chinese indigenous pig breed native to high-altitude areas of Tibet. In the present study, the genetic parameters of reproductive traits Tibet pig population were estimated using the method of MTDFREML. The results showed that the heritability of nipple number, total number born, number born alive, litter weight at birth, litter size at weaning, and litter weight at weaning were 0.36, 0.12, 0.10, 0.13, 0.09 and 0.12 respectively. The genetic correlations of nipple number with litter weight at weaning, litter weight at birth and litter size at weaning were significant. 
