Abstract: A feeding trial was conducted to study effect of different levels of silkworm feces on meat quality of New Zealand rabbit.120 only 35 day-old weaning New Zealand rabbits with similar initial body weight (1.06 kg±0.09 kg) were randomly assigned to 5 groups with 6 replicates per group. The control group was fed basal diet while the treatment groups were fed diets added 6%,12%,18% and 24% silkworm feces, respectively. After the experiments were completed, 4 only rabbits with close to the average weight were chose from each group and slaughtered. Finally, determined the muscle quality indicators. The results showed that different levels of silkworm feces had some effects on meat quality of New Zealand rabbit,the physical traits of five groups of fleshcolor, pH,lossing rate of water,cooking rate had no significant difference (P>0.05), shear force of the treatment groups was significantly lower than those of the control group (P<0.05), and there was a decreasing tendency of shear force content with increasing content of silkworm feces; the chemical traits of five groups of moisture, crude protein, crude fat, crude ash content had no significant difference (P>0.05).Silkworm feces in 6% to 18% added groups were higher than those in control group(P>0.05)and silkworm feces in 12% was the highest. Fat content of every group was lower than that in control group.
