Abstract: In order to study the mechanism of the development of skin and hair follicle of mink, distribution of epidermal growth factor(EGF), insulin-like growth factor Ⅰ(IGF-Ⅰ) and its receptor(IGF-Ⅰ R) in mink’s skin and hair follicles of pelting period were studied with histological methods and immunohistochemistry. The results showed that there was a strong positive expression of IGF-Ⅰ, IGF-ⅠR and EGF gene in mink’s skin epidermal cells and outer root sheath cells, these three genes were mainly distributed in the nucleus of cells, the positive reaction staining was not observed in vacuole, with hematoxylin counterstained blue, collagenous connective tissue and epidermis fold area under the positive staining was positive result of nonspecific. Widespread expression of IGF-Ⅰ, IGF-ⅠR and EGF gene in the epidermis and hair follicle outer root sheath cells of mink skin, directly involved in the regulation of skin and hair follicle development. So EGF, IGF-Ⅰ and IGF-Ⅰ R gene plays an important role in mink skin and its derivatives development.
