Abstract: To understand the prevalence of intestinal parasites in a wild animal zoo,Sichuan,a total of 180 fecal samples from 40 species of wild animals and mixed feeding waterfowl were examined using centrifugation method,Lugol's iodine stain method, and the Sheather's sugar flotation technique. The overall infection rate of parasites was 74.4%. Eight species of parasites were detected, including Coccidia,Acanthamoebida spp.,Ascaridae spp.,Trichuridae spp.,Capillariidae spp.,Strongylidae spp.,Cestoidea spp. and Trematoda spp.,with the prevalence of 31.1%,19.4%,15.6%,10.6%,17.2%,20.6%,4.4%,and 1.7%,respectively. The present results suggested the parasite infections were serious in wild animals in this zoo. Thus, valid measurements should be taken to protect the health of animals.
