Abstract: Seven paternal half-sib families from Liangshan semi-fine wool sheep were used to detect quantitative trait loci (QTL) for birth weight. The population was genotyped for 11 microsatellite markers on ovine chromosome 1 by PCR. QTL analysis showed that quantitative trait loci (QTL) affecting birth weight was detected between ILSTS004 and CSSM004 in B3K5055 family. LOD was 3.338 and confidence level was 0.95~0.99.
