Abstract: This study is to explore heat stress on the methane emissions of cows. Four dry period Chinese Holstein cows were selected in this study. According to 4?4 Latin square design, environment chamber was used for checking methane generation under the conditions of the temperature and humidity index 66,72,78 and 84, respectively. The results showed that CO2 and CH4 production would be decrease significantly (P<0.01) and the emissions methane by unit of feed dry matter become significantly higher under heat stress conditions(P<0.01). Therefore, the feed energy will be wasted badly under the heat stress conditions.
