Abstract: Vitamin E is a kind of fat-soluble vitamins which is of great importance to animals. Vitamin E is utilized by intestinal absorption, lipoprotein transport, storage and regulation in the liver and the uptake and metabolism in varies of tissues. The mechanism is involved in those processes, including the transport of various transporters, catalysis of enzymes and the interaction between different nutrients. Understanding of the mechanism would better to discover the key point in vitamin E utilization and therefore to facilitate vitamin E utilization by regulating the key point. This review briefly summarizes the research advances of the mechanisms involved in vitamin E absorption, transport and metabolism.

Key words: vitamin E; absorption; transport; metabolism
