Investigation on Prevalence of Intestinal Parasites in Racoon Dog (Nyctereutes Procyonoides)

Abstract: In order to understand the prevalence of intestinal parasites in Racoon dog, 232 feces samples of cage raccoon dogs of Nan Yang were detected by Logo’s iodine stain, sugar flotation technique and acid-fast staining. The results showed that 75 samples were positive, the average infection rate was 30.17%.The infection rate of Giardia was 6.47%,Cryptosporidium sp. was 0.86%,Coccidi was 5.17%, Strongylid was 15.95%, hookworm was 3.88%,respectively. This survey has provided the reference to prevent and treat raccoon dog’s intestinal parasitic disease.
