Abstract:

Runx2 is a member of the Runt homology domain family of transcription factors. As a specific transcription factor for osteocytes, Runx2 plays an important role in the formation and reconstruction of bone tissue. It can determine the differentiation of multipotent stem cells into osteoblastes, promote the matu
rity of chondrocytes and vascularization of cartilage. Runx2 is also associated with the formation of osteoclasts and intracellular matrix, the marrow endothelial cell migration and infiltration, the blood vessel proliferation and the tumor
cell infiltration, and the tooth and skin hairfollicle growth process is also closely connected. Progress in the research of the molecular mechanism regulated by Runx2, a master regulatory gene for activating the osteoblastes genesis, has provided novel insights for the therapeutic strategies of the metabolic diseases of bone.
