Detection and Research on Canine Babesiosis

Abstract: Canine babesiosis is a tick-borne blood parasite disease. Clinical symptom is high fever, anemia, hemoglobin urine and spleen swelling. A detection of canine Babesia infection in 103 pet dogs of Xi'an was conducted by using dog blood smear test, blood test and observing clinical characteristics. The results showed that there were 16 cases of canine Babesia infection, accounting for 15.53% of the total. Among these cases, 13 cases of infection happened in May, accounting for 81.25% (13/16) of the total 103 pet dogs.
