Abstract: Hox gene family of transcriptional regulators has originally been known for specifying positional identities along the longitudinal body axis. The first Hox gene is shown to play a universal role in hair follicle development is Hoxc13.The members of the Hox family are likely to fulfill essential roles of great functional during hair development and cycling from the perspective of the results obtained with the Hoxc13 transgenic models. This article overviews molecular mechanism of homeobox gene regulating hair follicle development and maybe useful for studies of wool in future.
