Abstract: Mongolia lambs were studied in nonbreeding season in this experiment, 24 six month old and healthy Mongolia lambs with similar body weight were divided into two groups: lambs of experimental group were provided with long light (16 h light∶8 h dark) primarily then provided with short light (8 h light∶16 h dark), lambs of control group were provided with natural daily light, in order to study the effect of light on puberty of lamb in nonbreeding season. The result showed that the body gain of the experimental group was remarkable lower than the control group’s during 0~15 d(P<0.05), and there was no difference between two groups in other time(P>0.05). The oestrus rate of the experimental group(91.7%)was higher than the control group’s(16.7%). The average number of ovulated follicles were 1.2 in the experimental group, which was higher than the number in the control group. Light control can make lamb ovulate and have oestrus behavior in the nonbreeding season.
