Abstract: Two strains of swine Erysipellthrix rhusiopathiae, which were characterized by cultural character, shape observation, biochemical test, polymerase chain reaction detection, animal pathogenicity experiment, antibiotic sensitivity test and MIC determination, were isolated from infected pig farms in Jiangxi province. The animal pathogenicity experiment demonstrated that 1×108 CFU could be lethal to mice. The antibiotic sensitivity test result showed that the two strains were highly sensitive to β-lactam antibiotics, but resistant to most of the other antibiotics. The MIC test displayed that the disinfectants used in this farm were not effective anymore. This result was important for clinic to prevent and treat swine erysipelas.
