Abstract: This trial was conducted to evaluate the effects of Ligustrum lucidum fruits extracts on productive performance and immune function of layer after laying peak period. A total of 180 47-week Hyline brown layers were randomly divided into 4 groups with 3 replicates per group and 15 birds per replicate in a single-factor completely randomized experimental design. The control group were fed a basal diet, the experimental groups Ⅰ, Ⅱ and Ⅲ were fed the basal diet supplemented with 0.05%, 0.10% and 0.15% Ligustrum lucidum fruits extracts, respectively. The results showed as follows, compared with the control group, the daily egg production and laying rate of layer in the three experimental groups were extremely significantly increased (P<0.01) respectively, the feed/egg in experimental group Ⅲ was extremely significantly decreased by 10.9% (P<0.01), but among 4 groups the average egg weight and rate of broken or soft egg did not significantly change (P>0.05); and the content of testosterone in experimental groups Ⅱ and Ⅲ were extremely significantly decreased (P<0.01), the contents of progesterone, estradiol, immunoglobulins (IgM, IgA) and interleukin-2 (IL-2) in three experimental groups were all extremely significantly increased respectively compared with the control group (P<0.01). In conclusion, supplement with the Ligustrum lucidum fruits extracts in the basal diet could significantly increase the productive performance and immune function of layer after laying peak period.
