Isolation and Identification of Clostridium tetanus from Cattle

Abstract: A cattle fallen ill and died after an operation on the rumen fistula, the clinical symptoms mainly presemted tetanic spasm. In this experiment, Clostridium tetanus was isolated from the muscle of surgical wound. The isolated Clostridium tetanus CT-JX-1 is gram-positive bacteria with bacillus on the top, forming the gray, flat and rough-type colonies on a general agar medium, it was dense on central part of the colony, and the outer edge like a spider web, this strain could liquefy the gelatin, but could not ferment a variety of sugars.
