Abstract: Forkhead box transcription factor O1(FoxO1) played a critical role in cell proliferation and differentiation of mammals. An experiment was conducted to determine the mRNA expression of FoxO1,PPAR γ and C/EBPα from perirenal fat of pigs by using Real-time PCR to study the role of FoxO1 in fat metabolism. The results indicated that in perirenal adipose, the expression of FoxO1 mRNA in Min pigs and Landrace of 2.5 months of age was significant higher than that in pigs of 1,6 and 8 months of age (P<0.01). According to the analysis of the relationship between mRNA expression of FoxO1 and PPARγ,C/EBPα gene, the expression trend of FoxO1 was contrary to PPARγ,C/EBPα after 2 months, which manifested that FoxO1 inhibited fat deposition through inhibiting PPARγ,C/EBPα mRNA expression. The results suggested that FoxO1 played an inhibitting role in fat deposition of pigs.
