Abstract: Porcine astrovirus (PAstV) infection in pigs could cause diarrhea, vomiting, dehydration and growth retardation and other symptoms, particularly for serious violations to piglets before weaning, and cause some economic losses on the pig industry. In this study, PK-15 cells were used to isolate the epidemic strains of porcine astroviruses in Guangxi, and the virus were identified by using RT-nPCR, indirect immunofluorescence, electron microscopy, Western blotting analysis and the experiment of pathogenicity. These could provide the basis to further study the molecular biology, pathogenesis and animal models of porcine astrovirus.
