Abstract: BALB/c mice inoculated with Leishmania tarentolae parasites which express fluorescent protein by intraperitoneal routes. Frozen sections of their organs were stained with fluorescent dye and observed by fluorescence microscopy. The results showed that Leishmania tarentolae were observed in heart, liver, spleen, lung and kidney of BALB/c mice. In addition,Leishmania real-time quantitative PCR method was established successfully and used to detect Leishmania tarentolae in BALB/c mice. These results indicated that the proliferation curve of Leishmania tarentolae in BALB/c mice was wavy in 13 days. The results for the study of Leishmania tarentolae will provide the theoretical basis for pathogenesis, vaccine development in humans and animals.
