Abstract: Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome (PRRS) is one of the most significant infectious diseases which causing huge losses to swine industry every year. Vaccines might be useful to control PRRS, however, numerous laboratory and clinical investigations indicated that the effective of inactivated or attenuated vaccines for PRRSV is far from satisfactory and preparing effective PRRS vaccines by using the classical techniques is quite difficult. In this case, deeply understanding the mechanisms involved in evoking effective protective immune responses is essential. The present review focused on the dynamic changes of cytokines produced by host cells and tissues in response to PRRSV infection and/or vaccination.

Key words: porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV); cytokines
