Abstract: Chromium is one of the essential trace elements for animals and human,as a cofactor with insulin at the cellular level which can maintain stability of blood glucose by improving insulin sensitivity, increasing the action of insulin and promoting the glucose uptake in the cycle tissue.Insulin-induced glucose transport is mainly mediated by GLUT-4 which plays a key role of promoting glucose uptake.Author summarized the requirements and absorption mechanism of chromium and the effect of chromium on insulin-stimulated translocation of GLUT-4 to regulate the uptake of glucose in skeletal muscle.
