The Research Advance of Effects of Dietary Cation-Anion Difference (DCAD) on Dairy Cows and the Application of DCAD to Practice

Abstract: Dietary Cation-Anion Difference (DCAD) is defined as the sum milliequivalents of (Na+K)-(Cl+S) per kilogram or per hundred gram of dry matter. DCAD has straight effects on blood acidbase balance and enzyme system's function of dairy cows, and it can improve on the dairy cows' health status and increase the milk performance. This report summarized the study result and current actuality about altering DCAD has effect on dairy cows, and discussed DCAD's application on practice in dairy cows' different period. 
