Abstract: Pathogenic bacteria strain was isolated and identified from diseased cobra cultured in a cobra farm in Nanning city,Guangxi.Through a comprehensive analysis of the clinical symptoms, pathological changes, histopathological examination, pathogenic bacteria isolation and identification, and pathogenicity test,it was confirmed as Staphylococcus lentus disease. The isolate had pathogenicity to mice. The result of drug susceptibility test showed that this strain was highly sensitive to amoxicillin sodium and sulbactam sodium, cefoperazone sodium and sulbactam sodium, ampicillin sodium, amoxicillin sodium, oxacillin sodium, piperacillin sodium, amikacin;Intermediate to ceftriaxone sodium, ofloxacin, rifampin; And resistant to streptomycin, lincomycin, sulfamonomethoxine, florfenicol, terramycin, norfloxacin.Amoxicillin sodium and sulbactam sodium was added in water and fodder to prevent the disease, and cefoperazone sodium and sulbactam sodium was used to treat diseased cobra by intramuscular injection, through a course of treatment, only five of forty six diseased cobras were dead, effect was remarkable. No new cases came up in cobra herd. After one week administration, the appetites of diseased cobras were recovered gradually.
