Abstract: It is of great significance to diagnose the foot-and-mouth disease early, which is a highly contagious disease. Molecular biological detection methods with many advantages, such as the Real-time fluorescent PCR, the multiple PCR, the nucleic acid hybridization, the gene chip, the loop-mediated isothermal amplification and the nucleic acid sequence-based amplification, have been widely used in the diagnosis and classification. The analysis and comparison about the detection efficiency, sensitivity, advantages and disadvantages as well as the research status at home and abroad were reviewed in this study and provided the reference for the molecular biology detection of foot and mouth disease virus applied to in-depth development.

Key words: foot-and-mouth disease virus; gene detection; genotyping
