Abstract: PCR-RFLP method was used to detect the polymorphism of BMPR-IB gene which controled the fecundity of Booroola Merino as a candidate gene on the fecundity of Cele Black sheep. The results showed that BMPR-IB gene had polymorphism in 100 Cele Black Sheep which were selected randomly. Three genotypes were found in Cele Black sheep, the genotypes frequencies of BB, B+ and ++ were 0.10, 0.43 and 0.47, the allelic frequencies of B and + were 0.315 and 0.685, and the genotype distribution was in agreement with Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium (P>0.05). This showed that BMPR-IB gene is probably one of the candidate genes with affecting the fecundity of Cele Black sheep.
