Abstract: To analyze and predict the structure and characteristics of formyltransferase of Brucella melitensis by bioinformatics in order to guide the experimental research for its biological function and application. Bioinformatics software (DANMAN and Vector NTI),database (prosite and PDB) and net servers were applied to predict and analyse the structures and biochemical properties of formyltransferase of brucella melitensis. Amino acid composition and domain as well as the secondary structures including regions of helix, sheet, turn, coil of the enzyme were well defined. Flexibility, hydrophilicity and surface accessibility which are always used to predict the B-cell epitopes and were simultaneously displayed. These predicted and analytic results could provide data for understanding the relationship between structure and function of the formyltransferase in the pathogenesis and the immunological response.
