Abstract: The effects of additives on sweet sorghum silage were studied. The sweet sorghum during grain filling were moved and bagged ensilaged with CK,formic acid (6 mL/kg) or sucrose (2%).After sampled and analyzed after storage 60 d,the results indicated that the silage fermentation quality was improved, the pH and ammonia nitrogen content significantly reduced(P<0.05),and lactic acid content significantly improved with additives of formic acid or sucrose(P<0.01). The contents of WSC,nitrate,NDF and DMR significantly improved with additives of formic acid (P<0.05),but only NDF content and DMR significantly improved with additives of sucrose (P<0.05).The nitrate content significantly reduced after ensiling (P<0.01).
