Development of Method for Detection of Fluoroquinolones in Traditional Chinese Herb by HPLC

Abstract: A method for detection of fluoroquinolones in traditional Chinese herb by HPLC was developed. The samples were extracted by methanol and 0.01 mol/L sodium hydroxide, and separeted by C18, detected by fluorescence detector(Em=278 nm, Ex=465 nm). The calibration curves of the nine fluoroquinolones were linear over the concentration ranges of 10 to 2000 ng/mL.The recoveries of standard addition were ranged from 76.77% to 90.31%, with the concentration of 5 to 75 mg/kg. The intra assay coefficient variation was in the range of 0.45% to 4.86%. The results showed that the method was found to be suitable for detection of fluoroquinolones in traditional Chinese herb.
