Abstract: This study aimed to investigate the effect of different concentrations of melatonin on proliferative activity of hair follicle stem cells in Inner Mongolia cashmere goat. The five levels melatonin including 0,100,300,500 and 700 pg/mL were designed to stimulate the hair follicle stem cells in Inner Mongolia cashmere goat, the MTT method was used to detect cell proliferation activity for 5 days. The result showed that 2 days later, the groups stimulated by melatonin did not cobble-stone arrangement and began to appear spindle cell and cell growth was not uniform compared with the control group (0 pg/mL),the groups showed obvious effect on cell proliferation relatively.4 days later, the cell proliferation of groups stimulated by 500 pg/mL melatonin were significantly greater than that of 0,100 pg/mL (P<0.01;P<0.05),but there was no significant difference with 700 pg/mL melatonin stimulation group (P>0.05).The optimal melatonin concentration of hair follicle stem cell proliferation was 500 pg/mL in Inner Mongolia cashmere goat.
