Abstract: The objective of this study was to carry out genetic evaluation of litter size in Inner Mongolia White Cashmere goat, and further to improve its performance of reproductive.Data used were 1998 to 2013 reproductive performance records collected from the Arbas stock farm in Inner Mongolia, China.Genera Linear Model of SAS was exploited to determine the fixed effects that affect litter size.Meanwhile, heritability of litter size was estimated by using the restricted maximum likelihood (REML) method in a repeatability animal model where the addictive effect of individual and the permanent environmental effect of dam were considered as random effects. The results showed that age of dam and year of lambing had significant (P< 0.01) effect on litter size as well as herd (P< 0.05), other factors had no significant effects on litter size (P >0.05).A low to moderate heritability of 0.13, indicated that based on phenotypic selection directly, litter size genetic progress might be a little bit slow.
