Abstract: The present study was aimed to investigate the effects of visfatin on the morphological structure and MPO in liver of LPS-induced rats.24 8-week-old Wistar rats were randomly divided into 4 groups including saline group, visfatin group, LPS group and visfatin+LPS group.Wistar rats in saline group and LPS group were both received NaCl solution injection each day, Wistar rats in visfatin group and visfatin+LPS group were both received the injection of visfatin each day.One week later, LPS was injected into Wistar rats in LPS group and visfatin+LPS group. All the Wistar rats were sacrificed 6 h after the injection of LPS.HE and immunohistochemical methods were used to observe the morphological structure and MPO in liver of each group. The present study showed that the macrophage increased and the expression level of MPO reduced significantly in visfatin group than saline group (P< 0.05).Compared with LPS group, in vifatin+LPS group, morphological of hepatocytes became disorder, the infiltration of inflammatory cells became more clear, the expression level of MPO reduced significantly (P< 0.05).The results suggested that visfatin could increase the number of macrophage and had a remarkable effect on MPO level in liver.
