Abstract: In order to investigate E.coli isolates collected from different growth stages pigs in a pig farm of Xinjiang to commonly used antibiotics. Fecal samples were taken from the fattening pigs, pregnant pigs, nursery pigs and lactating pigs. Minimal inhibitory concentrations of the antibiotics to these E.coli isolates which were confirmed were determined by the broth micro-dilution method. Results showed that isolation rate of E.coli isolated from the fattening pigs, pregnant pigs, nursery pigs and lactating pigs were 85.2%, 83.0%, 81.0% and 83.0%, respectively. E. coli isolates from pigs in different growth stages were highly resistant to ampicillin and amoxicillin/clavulanic acid, while were more sensitive to ceftiofur. Resistant condition of E. coli isolates was serious in the nursery pigs and lactating pigs, and most of the isolates were resistant to 5 kinds of antibiotics. E.coli isolates from pregnant pigs were sensitive to all antibiotics measured. E.coli isolates from fattening pigs were mainly resistant to 3 kinds of antibiotics. Antibiotic resistant of E.coli isolates from different growth periods were different.

Key words: different growth stages; E.coli; antibiotics; resistance; minimal inhibitory concentrations
