Abstract: This experiment was to study the effect of cold stress on the lipoprotein lipase (LPL) gene mRNA expression in Altay sheep, tissue samples of six part were collected before and after cold stress, LPL mRNA expression levels were detected using RT-PCR method. The results showed that the LPL mRNA expression of Altay sheep was significantly or extremely significantly increased after cold stress (P<0.05;P<0.01), and the highest expression after cold stress was intramuscular fat of the neck and tail fat, suggested that the Altay sheep's strong mobilization of adipose tissue at low temperatures so that their body heat production increased to resist cold stress.
