Abstract: Laying hens were immunized with porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV) SC strains. Immunoglobin of yolk (IgY) from chick yolk was extracted and purified by water dilution-sodium sulfate method and water dilution-sodium sulfate-salting method after harvesting eggs and separating egg yolk. Treatment and security were determined with 3-day-old piglets without maternal antibodies. IgY was used in naturally infected farms to further validate the therapeutic effect. The experimental results showed that high level of specific antibodies were produced after the hens immunized with PEDV SC strains in second times. In the treatment trial, survival rate of infection and treatment gnoup piglets was 60%,the challenge control group survival rate was 20%. In the naturally infected farms, survival rate of treatment group piglet was also 60%,the control group was 10%. These results suggested that anti-PEDV IgY could treat piglets infected with PEDV.
