Abstract: The aim of the study was to investigate the biological characteristics and antibiotic resistance of E.coli isolated from bovine mastitis in Shihezi area in Xinjiang so as to raise therapeutic effect and decrease drug residue. The milk samples of bovine mastitis were collected from Shihezi and a total of 21 E.coli isolates were further identified by microbiological tested, and antibiotic resistance of 21 strains were also studied. The results showed that among the 21 strains, the resistant rates of 6 out of 21 antibacterial drugs exceeded 50%,the E.coli could resist 15 kinds of antibacterial drugs at most and 5 kinds of antibacterial drugs at least, and the E.coli strains which were resistant 6 or more antibacterial drugs occupied 76.19%.So we concluded that E.coli isolates had produced different level resistance to many kinds of antibacterial drugs and presented serious multiple antibiotic resistance.
