Abstract: The objective of this study was to investigate the mechanism of taking fertility-promoting power to treat persistent curpus luteum in dairy cows. Dairy cows of persistent corpus luteum were diagnosed by rectal palpation and B-mode ultrasound scanning. These cows were determined 24 h after taking medicine and some morphological indexs included diameter of corpus luteum, follicular number, length of ovary, width of ovary, longitudinal diameter of cervix uterus and longitudinal diameter of horn uterus were counted every three days by ultrasound scanning. The effective number was 25 and effective ratio was 83.3% among 30 dairy cows of persistent corpus luteum. The change of morphological indexs of ovarian and uterine before and after taking medicine were as follow. Medium and small follicules were appeared on ovary after finishing treatment for 1 day and most of large follicule were appeared after finishing treatment for 10, 19 days respectively and part of them appeared estrus and ovulation. The length of ovary on right and left side decreased not significantly (P>0.05) after finishing treatment compared with that of dairy cows before taking medicine, respectively. The width of ovary on left and right side decreased not significantly (P>0.05) after finishing treatment compared to that of dairy cows before taking medicine, respectively. The longitudinal diameter of cervix uterus and horn uterus increased not significant difference after finishing treatment (P>0.05). The results showed that B-mode ultrasound scanning was a effective method to diagnose persistent corpus luteum and taking orally fertility-promoting power had obvious effect on morphological indexs of ovaries and uterine of in dairy cows.
