Abstract: Alfalfa is the king of pasture, it has abundant nutrition, high production and high conversion ratio of protein, is an important coarse fodder of dairy cows. Now there is a shortage of high quality alfalfa in China, domestic demand exceeds supply, the unbalance results in soaring on the prices and the climbing of imports. The main reasons why domestic alfalfa industry develops slowly are shortage of quantity, poof quality, high price, lack of policy supports and matched reaping machines, outmoded processing equipment and the high cost of logistics. To promote our alfalfa industry, our suggestions and countermeasures are definited alfalfa industry strategic position and made a scientific plan. The industry shall be scaled, commercialized, innovate management mechanism and promote industrial development and focus on the research and promotion, enjoy "green pass" policy as well as other agricultural products, and give alfalfa industry special subsidy.
