Abstract: The objective of this paper was to study the effect of the pig hemoglobin as substitute. The hemoglobin was extracted from the pig’s blood and polymerized by PEG and purified by centrifuged, then transferred to dogs. Both the clinical indicators and blood and urine index were detected continuously before and after transfusion. The dog hadn’t occurred coagulation and hemolytic reaction. It showed that hemoglobin polymerization could exist in the dog’s blood for 7 days by detecting urine. There were no adverse clinical reactions occur after second transfusion. The polymerization of hemoglobin will be better prospects for clinical application in blood substitutes.
