Annual Review of Ruminant Nutrition in 2008-2009Ⅵ.Vitamins

Abstract: Research advance of vitamins from 2008 to 2009 has been reviewed in this article.Vitamin A can improve the immune function of ruminants and influence on the development of ruminant adipose tissues and shows a high antioxidation activity.Vitamin D3 can raise the concentration of Ca,P in plasama, and increase the density of 25-(OH)D3in the serum, which has some effects on the beef quality. Vitamin E can improve the performance of beef cattle, elevate the milk production, reduce the incidence of breeding, and stimulate the development of reproductive organs which results in the improvement of breeding performance. Niacin can not only improve the performance of dairy cattle, but also increase the concentrations of T3,T4 in serum. Supplementing folic acid and vitamin B12 can raise the product of lactose, crude protein, and total solid yield in milk. Choliner can release negative energy balance of postpartum dairy cattle.
