Abstract: The syndrome of porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome (PRRS) is characterized by respiratory disease leading to increased mortality in piglets and decreased performance infertility or late-term abortions in sows. The change of pathology and microanatomy was not often typical in infected pig, it was easy to confused with other pathological changes caused by other etiological agents, it is difficult to diagnose. The definite diagnosis was depended on laboratory diagnosis to increase the level of diagnosis and prevention. The sensitivity, specificity and cost are different in different laboratory diagnostic assays, serology test can’t differentiate antibodies caused by field virus or vaccine. The research about methods of viral RNA detection, viral antigens, and antibodies in this article were discussed.
