Abstract: The advances on nutrient requirements, feedstuff evaluation and formulation techniques of broiler are reviewed in this paper. It showed that feeding phases decision is more scientific from three to four phases; nutrient requirement specifications is presenting diversified trend of development, which are referred to be combined with the broiler breeds, environment, production goal and the evaluation systems of the feedstuff itself etc; secondly, formulation optimization technology itself is relative invariable, but if the coefficients matrix of formulation model is integrated from the standard deviation of the nutrients of used feedstuff, it will evidently enhance the true probability for goal nutrients to reach. The third, performance prediction about broiler is improved when diets are formulated on the basis of standardized ileal amino acid digestibility. The results and thought can provide the scientific basis for developing the new generation expert system of broiler feeding and nutrition.

Key words: broiler; nutrient requirements; formulation technology; standardized ileal digestibility
