Abstract:

Threonine (Thr) is one of the four main limiting amino acids of poultry, and it plays a very important role in poultry's maintenance of normal growth, development and immune function. Although there have been very comprehensive studies on the mechanism of broilers and laying hens over the past ten years, there are still relatively fewer studies on ducks. This paper summarizes recent studies on Thr nutrition-physiological function in broilers, laying hens and ducks, including the influence of Thr on dietary amino acids balance, production performance, carcass quality, immune function and intestine health maintenance. At the same time, this paper also briefly analyzes the factors related to Thr requirement, including growth stage, crude protein level, energy concentration, other amino acids level in diet and raising environment. In brief, the review is respected to guide poultry production practices.
