Abstract: To develop a simple, rapid and high efficiency immunochromatographic assay for Newcastle disease virus (NDV). The sodium citrate reduction was used to make colloidal gold particles which will conjugate with NDV monoclonal antibody as immunoassay probes. The test line was sprayed on the nitrocellulose membrane, while a sheep anti-mouse antibody quality control line (C line) was sprayed. The strip could detect NDV in 10 min. The detection of NDV was more sensitive than the HA test results by improving 8 times. NDV had no cross-reactions with AIV. With buffer as control testing, the result was negative. Storage of the strips in a sealed, dry, low temperature conditions had not changed their sensitivity and specificity. The research revealed that the strip for detection of NDV has high specificity, sensitivity and stability. Its rapid detection and easy operation make it suitable for widely use. 
