The Effects of Endocrine Disruptors on Leydig Cell Function

Abstract: During the past decades,the effects of endocrine disrupting compounds (EDCs) on animals and humans has caused wide attention. A large body of information have demonstrated that EDCs can cause the male reproductive developmental disorders such as cryptorchidism, hypospadias, testicular cancer, as well as decreased quality of semen. The aim of this paper is to give an overview of the published literature on the effects of EDCs on leydig cell function and steroidogenesis with particular focus on male reproduction and fertility.
