Abstract: As a part of the congenital immune, autophagy plays a "double-edged sword" role in the process of intracellular pathogen infection. On the one hand, autophagy could suppress and eliminate the infection of intracellular pathogens, protect the body from the invader; on the other hand, some intracellular pathogens could inhibit, block the occurrence or mature of autophagy, or autophagy is even used to escape the immune mechanism, it is conducive for the proliferation and survival of intracellular pathogens in the body. The author reviewed the interactions between autophagy and intracellular pathogen, and the function of autophagy played in intracellular pathogen infection.
