Abstract: In order to understand the relationship between single nucleotide polymorphism sites(SNPs)of myostatin(MSTN) gene and slaughter traits in Xingyi duck, MSTN gene was used as a candidate gene for slaughter traits. The polymorphisms of the exon of MSTN gene in Xingyi duck were detected by direct sequencing of PCR products and gene cloning. The results showed that there were 8 single nucleotide polymorphism sites (SNPs) in 60 Xingyi ducks, there were 5 mutations in exon 1 of SNP1(G77A), SNP2(A91G), SNP3(G130A), SNP4 (C325T), SNP5(C331T), there was no mutation in exon 2, and there were 3 mutations in exon 3 of SNP6(C206T), SNP7 (A235G), SNP8 (C256A). By correlation analysis between the 8 SNPs and slaughter traits, it showed that there were no significant associations between the genetype and slaughter traits of Xingyi ducks (P>0.05). The result of this study could enrich MSTN gene research data and provide reference for duck breeding.
