Research Progress on Short-legged Phenotype of Domestic Dog

Abstract: The short-legged phenotype of domestic dog was a growth trait, in recent years, there were many reports about this phenotype in the respects of neuroendocrine growth axis, fibroblast growth factors and other related factors. The results showed that most factors leading to human short stature did not affect the size of dog's body except for IGF-Ⅰ, in addition, the discovery of fgf4 made a breakthrough in the research. In this paper, the research development of short-legged phenotype of domestic dog was summarized from the aspects of relevant hormones, growth factors and some related genes.
