Abstract: The present study was conducted to study the effects of ventilating and spraying on the gain performance, immune function and incretion of beef cattle in north China from the point of animal welfare. Twenty-eight Holstein bull calves with similar body weight and age were randomly divided into two groups with two reduplicates in each group. One was the experimental group with the device of fan and water sprayer, and the other was the control group. The experiment lasted for 28 d. The results showed that the environmental state in animal house was significantly improved by ventilating and spraying, and feed intake was significantly increased (P<0.05). In addition, the concentrations of ACTH and CORT in serum were significantly reduced (P<0.01), and the concentrations of GH, IgG and IgM in serum were significantly increased compared with the contral group in every test stage. Overall, gain performance and immune function were ensured and animal welfare was improved by ventilating and spraying.
