Abstract: According to GenBank published sequences for the chicken IGF1R gene, 2 pairs of primers were designed for ex-ons 2 and 3, the G26336A, C111014A loci polymorphism for IGF1R gene of chicken were detected by using the method of DNA sequencing and use of pool PCR-SSCP technique, and the correlation analysis of production traits of chicken were also studied. The results showed that AA genotype of G26336A sites showed a significant lower than BB genotype (P<0.05) for 56 days of age body weigh, AA and AB genotype showed a significant lower than BB genotype (P<0.05) for 84 days of age body weight. CC, CD genotypes of C111014A site for birth weight was significantly lower than the DD genotype (P<0.05), CC genotype for the 300 days of age body weight was significantly lower than DD genotype (P<0.05). The results preliminarily showed that the IGF1R gene is either a major gene that influences the body weight traits of chicken or a molecular marker in close linkage with such a gene.
