Abstract: This assay was aimed to provide experimental data for the research and development of new pleuromutilin antibacterials for veterinary use, four pleuromutilin derivatives with butyl amine group in the C14 side-chain were synthesized. The effects of steric hindrance on the antibacterial activity of four pleuromutilin derivatives against Mycoplasma gallisepticum had been studied. The MIC of compounds 1 and 2 both reached 0.0125 μg/mL, the MIC of compound 3 reached 0.25 μg/mL, while the MIC of compound 4 reached 0.5 μg/mL.

Key words: pleuromutilin; steric hindrance; Mycoplasma gallisepticum
